Students Raise Money for Relay for Life

Members of the Leland High School Student Council met last Friday to begin their efforts to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event. In addition to the walk to raise money, the group sold cupcakes in front of the school to raise funds, too.

Carver elected SGA President at MC

Leland native Josh Carver was recently elected SGA President at Mississippi College. Carver is a business administration major, and graduated from Greenville Christian Academy in 2009.

Celebrating a 100th birthday!

Ms. Hattie Pharr of Leland celebrated her 100th birthday and received a key to the city from Mayor James Lowe.

Engineering Award Given

MDOT Central/West District Engineer Kevin Magee and Michael Caulfield, Asst. Project Engineer of HNTB accepted a Grand Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies in Washington D. C. The award recognized the new US 82 Mississippi River bridge as one of the world’s most innovative projects of the year.
