Pastor’s Perspective: Through it all, give God the Glory

Has life ever thrown you curveballs one after another, yet, somehow, by God’s grace, you turned them into home runs? Those who watch how you navigate the storms of life can’t help but wonder about your secret. No matter what trials come your way, one thing remains constant—you always give God praise.

On the shelves of many stores, you’ll find a blue box of salt with a young girl holding an umbrella, accompanied by the words, “When it rains, it pours.” That phrase could just as easily describe the faith journey of every believer. We are the salt of the earth, called to season the world with God’s love. And, even in life’s storms, we don’t stop pouring – pouring out grace, pouring out worship, pouring out a testimony that declares, “God is still good.”

Think about the challenges we’ve faced as a community – the ongoing pursuit of justice, the economic hardships that have stretched families to their limits. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but God’s Word reminds us in 1 Peter 4:12: “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.”

In other words, storms will come, but they should not shake our faith.

Trials are not just obstacles; they are opportunities. They refine us, strengthen us, and, when met with faith, become platforms for God’s glory. Every hardship we endure with trust in the Lord becomes a testimony of His sustaining power. When others see us face adversity with courage, they witness firsthand what it means to walk by faith and not by sight.

As Christians, we don’t crumble under the weight of trials; we rise above them with the power of Christ. We don’t give in to despair; we press on, knowing that “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5). Our faith in the storm is a beacon to the world—a light that points to a Savior who never fails.

So, whatever you may be facing today, hold onto your faith. Keep trusting, keep praising, and keep declaring the goodness of God. Because, through it all – every challenge, every setback, every victory – our purpose remains the same: to give God the glory.
