MS Sports Hall of Fame to Recognize c/o ’25 and Special Awards during Upcoming Induction Events

logoThe Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum is gearing up for one of its most anticipated events of the year, the Annual Hall of Fame Induction Weekend, presented by Howard Industries, set for August 1–2, 2025. The weekend will celebrate the previously announced Class of 2025 inductees with a series of events honoring their incredible achievements and contributions to Mississippi sports. The honorees include Scott Berry, Steve Freeman, Mike Justice, Dexter McCluster, Derrick Nix, Steve Rives, Robbie Webb, and Mo Williams.

In addition, the Museum will present the prestigious Michael Rubenstein Award for Lifetime Contributions to Sports in Mississippi to Dr. Robert C. Khayat, recognizing his transformative legacy as an Academic All-America athlete at Ole Miss, Pro Bowl NFL kicker, Chancellor of the University of Mississippi (1995–2009), law professor, and civic leader. Under Khayat’s leadership, Ole Miss added a prestigious honor society Phi Beta Kappa chapter, hosted the 2008 presidential debate, boosted enrollment by 43%, and secured over $100 million in research funding. He is also a recipient of the NFL Lifetime Achievement Award and the National Football Foundation’s Distinguished American Award.

The Bill Hetrick Community Service Award will be presented to Oscar Miskelly, a lifelong advocate for youth development through sports and a passionate supporter of faith-based athletics in Mississippi. Best known as the CEO and co-founder of Miskelly Furniture, Oscar has dedicated decades to mentoring young athletes, coaching youth basketball teams, and supporting programs like the Mississippi Basketball Association that have shaped countless lives across the Jackson metro area. He has been a longtime leader with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, serving on the Mississippi FCA Board to help bring faith and sports together to impact communities statewide. Miskelly also played a pivotal role in the growth of Rumble in the South, a premier high school basketball showcase that celebrates unity, competition, and purpose.

“This weekend is one of the most special traditions in Mississippi sports,” said Andrea Patterson, Executive Director of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum. “The Hall of Fame Class of 2025 represents the very best of athletics, leadership, and character.
