Greenville, Jackson to benefit from $21M in airport grants
U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker announced more than $21 million in federal airport grants for Mississippi, including funding for key travel hubs used by many in the Leland area.
The Greenville Mid-Delta Airport will receive $186,000 for improvements, and the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport will receive over $1 million across several grants for infrastructure and safety upgrades.
“These investments will improve safety, efficiency and economic opportunity across the state,” Wicker said in a statement.
The grants, awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration, will fund runway, terminal and lighting upgrades at fifty-two airports statewide.
Travelers from Leland flying out of Greenville or Jackson could benefit from these improvements as early as 2025.
