Visiting poet, Delta artist draw full house at Leland bookstore
A visiting New York poet, Nancy Dafoe, and Delta artist Jamie Tate of Indianola drew a full crowd recently at The Next Chapter Bookstore for a signing event, poetry reading and art exhibition.
The event brought readers, art lovers and residents into the downtown shop for a meet-and-greet and book signing, with light refreshments provided.
Store organizers said demand exceeded expectations, with every copy sold during the event. Additional books are available for order, with a sign-up sheet at the front desk for customers interested in purchasing copies.
Business owners say they believe the appearance reflects continued interest in literary events and small business engagement in Leland, as local venues expand programming to bring regional and national voices into the community.
