MDCC Recognizes Two Students at Atmos Signing Day
Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) hosted Atmos Signing Day on April 23 to recognize two students selected for Atmos Energy’s Operations Internship program. The event celebrated the continued partnership between MDCC and Atmos Energy, providing students with valuable, hands-on career experience.
The students recognized during the signing were Tyran Wilson of Arcola and Hayden Rhodes of Schlater.
Atmos Signing Day highlights MDCC’s commitment to connecting students in career and technical education programs with real-world workforce opportunities. Through the Operations Internship program, students gain practical experience working alongside Atmos Energy professionals in a variety of settings.
The internship is designed for students between their first and second years of a career and technical education program and offers opportunities to continue working part-time during the academic year. Participants are paired with mentors and gain exposure to multiple aspects of natural gas operations, including construction, safety procedures, customer service fieldwork, and system maintenance.
Students also receive training in essential industry skills such as equipment usage, safety protocols, and day-to-day operational support, preparing them for future careers in the energy sector.
