Pattersons’ car show at Cabin on the Bogue draws crowd

Car enthusiasts and community members gathered for the Pattersons’ annual car show April 18 at Cabin on the Bogue, where a shared interest in automobiles brought people together for a day of conversation and connection.

Attendees spent the day visiting with fellow car lovers, neighbors and family, swapping stories and admiring a range of vehicles. Many brought lawn chairs and settled in for the afternoon, while a food truck provided meals. Music was provided by DJ Dynamite, and donations were presented to Delta Belles, Children’s of Mississippi, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the Percy and Viola Patterson Scholarship.

One highlight was Rod Patterson’s green classic Chevrolet Malibu, originally purchased in Indianola. Attendees noted the rarity of a vehicle remaining close to home throughout its lifetime. The original dealer emblem remains on the rear bumper. Patterson said he was invited once to a family reunion to showcase the car, originally purchased from the family’s grandfather, adding that family members were eager to see the original dealer tag.

Another crowd favorite was a “stink bug” vehicle displayed by the Paynes.

Also featured was Albert Kossman, a performance project consultant, who showcased his high-performance Corvette Z06. Kossman has driven the vehicle across the country, including trips to Arlington National Cemetery to attend veterans’ funerals.

Events such as the Pattersons’ car show continue to bring residents together around shared interests.
