Mississippi Antique Showcase filmed in Stoneville
The Mississippi Antique Showcase, a television appraisal event produced by Mississippi Public Broadcasting, was held April 17–18 at the Capps Center, drawing participants from across the region to have antiques and heirlooms evaluated by experts.
The event, sometimes compared to a regional version of the Antiques Roadshow, invited attendees to bring items ranging from paintings and vases to tapestries and music boxes for professional appraisal.
“We want to thank the city of Leland for its hospitality in hosting the Mississippi Antique Showcase,” said Angela Crossley Ferraez. “Filming in the Delta has allowed us to highlight extraordinary antiques while also showcasing the people, culture and history that define the region. It has been a meaningful experience for everyone involved. We had a great time and enjoyed some excellent food. The people of the Delta are wonderful and unique.”
The showcase began in October 2022, when MPB and the MPB Foundation launched the program at their studios in Jackson, offering Mississippians an opportunity to learn more about the value and history of their personal items. Organizers said hundreds attended the inaugural event, bringing a wide variety of objects for appraisal.
Since its debut, the Mississippi Antique Showcase has expanded to multiple locations across the state, including Columbus, Biloxi, Natchez and Oxford, highlighting local history and material culture in each region.
