Coach Womack returns to Washington School
Washington School is excited to welcome back a former coach and teacher, Coach Mitch Womack. A 1995 graduate of Delta State University, he earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and history. Over the past 29 years, he has dedicated himself to coaching, starting with three years as a graduate assistant at Delta State. He then spent four years as the defensive coordinator at St. Joseph in Greenville before serving as an assistant coach at Washington School for 13 years. Following that, he coached at Central Holmes for five years, where he held the positions of both defensive coordinator and head coach for four seasons. During his time there, he led the team to a runner-up finish in the 2022 AAA MAIS State Championship. Coach Womack’s coaching experience also includes two years as defensive coordinator at Tri County, one year at Ray Brooks, and one year at Indianola Gentry.
Outside of football, Coach Womack enjoys athletics, hunting, and spending time with his family. He is married to Julia Dawkins Womack, and together they have four children: Madison Womack Moore of Leland, a 2019 graduate of Washington School; Lane Womack of Leland; Addison Floyd of Milton, Florida; and Joseph Womack of Leland, who is a fourth-grade student at Washington School.
