2025 MS Leadership academy offers free program for students

High school and college students in Leland have the chance to participate in the Mississippi Leadership Academy this fall, a free two-part program designed to help young people develop leadership skills and connect with state leaders.
The program, hosted by the Mississippi Center for Public Policy, will meet September 20 and October 11 in Jackson. Students attend just one Saturday a month and learn from statewide elected officials, legislators and policy leaders. Topics include the lawmaking process, free markets, media management, the defense of liberty and the unique challenges Mississippi faces.
Organizers say 35% of past participants have gone on to intern with leaders they met through the academy, including the state auditor and attorney general. Because the Academy is a nonprofit program, students who attend both dates are eligible for volunteer hours.
Parents and grandparents are encouraged to share this opportunity with Leland students. Applications for the 2025 Mississippi Leadership Academy are open now.
