Get paid to train for high-tech careers – with laptop included
Leland-area residents looking to start a new career in technology and skilled trades have an opportunity to earn while they learn this fall, thanks to a four-week paid training program hosted by Hinds Community College’s Jackson Campus.
In partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Hinds will offer the AWS Information Infrastructure Pre-Apprenticeship (I2PA) program from August 18 to September 16. Participants will be paid for 30 hours of hands-on instruction per week, while gaining industry-recognized certifications and job-ready skills.
The program prepares workers for entry-level jobs supporting the infrastructure behind cloud computing and data centers including electrical, mechanical, fiber-optic and data operations. Graduates will receive OSHA 10 and AWS I2PA certification and be invited to an on-site job fair with hiring managers from AWS and its partner contractors.
All materials, including protective gear and a laptop, are provided at no cost.
The program is designed as a full-time, four-week commitment, but part-time attendance may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
To be eligible, applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent, basic math and communication skills and a willingness to work outdoors or in construction-type environments.
Classes will take place at Hinds CC’s Jackson Campus, located at 3925 Sunset Drive.
