Dr. Kylon Alford-Windfield Appointed to College Board National Advisory Committee

windfieldMississippi Delta Community College Vice President of Enrollment Management Dr. Kylon Alford-Windfield has been appointed to the College Board’s National Advisory Committee for A Dream Deferred: The Future of African American Education.

Alford-Windfield will serve a three-year term on the national committee, contributing his experience in enrollment management, higher education access and student success to conversations and initiatives focused on advancing educational opportunities for African American students.

“I am honored to serve the College Board through the National Advisory Committee,” Alford-Windfield said. “The College Board has long been a leader in advancing college access, opportunity and student success, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to that work at the national level.

“This appointment reflects the importance of ensuring that African American students remain central to the national conversation on the future of higher education. At the same time, the work of expanding access must benefit all students, particularly those who have historically faced barriers to pursuing and completing a college education.”

A Dream Deferred brings together education professionals from across the nation to exchange ideas, share best practices and explore solutions designed to expand access and opportunity for African American students. The conference was first held in Los Angeles in June 2005 amid conversations surrounding the 50th anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision.

Over the past two decades, the conference has grown into a national forum for educators and leaders from K-12 schools, colleges and universities and other organizations committed to supporting African American students and strengthening pathways to higher education.

MDCC President Dr. Steven Jones said Alford-Windfield’s appointment reflects both his leadership and the college’s commitment to expanding educational opportunity.

“We are tremendously proud to congratulate Dr. Alford-Windfield on this significant national appointment,” Jones said. “His selection reflects the caliber of his leadership and expertise while providing an opportunity for Mississippi Delta Community College to contribute to important conversations about access, opportunity and student success on a national level.

“As an institution committed to serving students and communities that have historically faced barriers to higher education, we are especially proud to see that commitment represented through Dr. Alford-Windfield’s service. We look forward to the perspective and leadership he will bring to this role and the impact his work will have beyond our campus.”

Alford-Windfield said he looks forward to representing MDCC while contributing to the committee’s work.

“I look forward to bringing my experience, scholarship and perspective to this work while representing Mississippi Delta Community College in a national forum,” Alford-Windfield said. “I am deeply appreciative of the College Board’s confidence in my leadership, and I look forward to helping advance conversations that expand opportunity and strengthen pathways to higher education for students across the country.”

The next A Dream Deferred: The Future of African American Education conference will be held March 10-12, 2027, at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta. The conference will be held in conjunction with the College Board’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities Conference.
