MSU Fall Catfish Seminar set for Nov. 20 in Stoneville: Registration free through Nov. 17

Local producers, researchers, and aquaculture professionals will gather this month for the Fall National Warmwater Aquaculture Center Catfish Seminar, hosted Nov. 20 at the Capps Center on the Mississippi State University Delta Research and Extension Center (DREC) campus in Stoneville.

The event, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon at 82 Stoneville Rd, will feature experts from MSU and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, covering topics vital to Delta catfish operations — including fish health, water quality, nutrition, genetics, and bird depredation.

Registration is free and open through Nov. 17. Participants may register by calling 662-686-3269. Lunch will be provided by the Catfish Farmers of Mississippi.

“The catfish industry continues to play a major role in the Delta’s economy, and this seminar is designed to keep our farmers equipped with the latest research and tools,” said Dr. Jimmy Avery, director of the National Warmwater Aquaculture Center at DREC.

The event is organized by the MSU Extension Service, Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, and the USDA Agricultural Research Service.
