Delta Regional Healthcare Foundation donates 15 Geri Chairs to Medical Center

The Delta Regional Healthcare Foundation has purchased fifteen new Geri Chairs for patient care departments at Delta Health System–The Medical Center, boosting comfort, mobility and safety for patients needing extended recovery or observation.

Geri Chairs, which are large and padded, with wheeled bases, allow greater flexibility in positioning, help reduce pressure injuries and support healing by improving circulation and overall comfort.

“This is exactly the kind of patient-centered impact we envisioned when we reestablished the Foundation,” said Iris Stacker, chief executive officer of Delta Health System. “Our teams work hard every day to provide the best care possible, and these tools directly improve our patients’ experience and recovery.”

Relaunched in 2024 (formerly Tri-State Healthcare Foundation, est. 2009), the 501(c)(3) supports capital needs, infrastructure and education/workforce development as part of a broader sustainability strategy by the Board of Trustees.

“The health care climate in rural Mississippi has been challenging for years,” Stacker said. “For our hospital to grow and bring innovative technology, infrastructure, services and education to the community, we need funding to do so. The Foundation provides the leverage and partnerships to make that happen.”

“This Foundation allows donors to support the hospital that may have cared for a loved one, welcomed a new family member or provided employment,” said Brother Sandifer, board chairman. “Every contribution—large or small—helps continue that legacy of care.”

The Geri Chair purchase is one of several initiatives the Foundation is advancing to support patient care and the hospital’s mission.
