Around Town – Leland Snapshots

Rev. Dr. C.W. Ray of Neisa Ray’s Diner was recognized with a proclamation from the City of Leland following a significant donation supporting coordinated community safety efforts. Ray donated $2,562 to help fund the purchase of a new camera system to assist the Leland Police Department in high-crime areas. Mayor John Lee and members of the Board of Aldermen thanked Ray for his continued commitment to public service and generosity within the community. The proclamation was presented Dec. 2, 2025. Members of the Leland Optimist Club and local residents gathered Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 5–6 p.m. around the large Christmas tree at Broad Street and Deer Creek for an evening of community caroling. Accompanied by guitar, familiar holiday songs, and warm drinks, the gathering brought together families, city leaders and neighbors to share music and fellowship during the holiday season.

The Greenville Arts Council Board of Directors and staff shared holiday fellowship while reflecting on the year ahead, with several new initiatives planned for 2026 and a major announcement expected in the coming months.

Members of the Leland Rotary Club gathered donated toys for distribution to local families, continuing the club’s annual tradition of supporting children during the holiday season. The toys were donated to Leland’s Deacons’ Alliance for its annual community toy drive.
