Students harvest first winter crops

Washington School’s Agricultural Science students harvested their first winter crops in December, gathering collard greens from the school garden after months of preparation. The greens were donated to the school grill for a farm-to-table meal, allowing students to see their work move from the field to the plate.
Earlier in the semester, students cleared summer beds, refreshed the soil, and planted a cool-season garden including cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, collards, lettuce, and pumpkins. The garden has continued to thrive through colder weather, serving as a hands-on classroom where students measure, observe, and learn from what’s growing.
The class also thanked The Delta Group for its ongoing support of the Agricultural Science program, which helps make this soil-based learning possible.
