He Did It Once. He Can Do It Again.

What are the chances that great opportunities will come your way more than once? Some say the odds are slim and call it a fat chance. They ask whether lightning really strikes the same place twice. When something wonderful happens, many people credit luck, timing, or coincidence, anything but God. And when they see a remarkable breakthrough, they cross their arms and say, “Let me see it happen again.” We live in an age that trusts statistics more than sovereignty and probability more than providence. If it cannot be measured, it is often minimized. If it cannot be explained, it is often ignored. Yet what seems unlikely to us is never impossible for God.
The great Harry Houdini amazed crowds by escaping handcuffs, ropes, chains, safes, and even jail cells. In one performance, he was bound, chained, turned upside down, and suspended before a watching audience, only to free himself moments later. A young boy, convinced it was a fluke, boldly challenged him to do it again. With reporters watching and the crowd buzzing, Houdini calmly allowed himself to be restrained once more and escaped again. What he did once, he could do again. If a mere man can repeat what seems impossible, how much more can an all-powerful God?
One of the foundational truths of faith is that God is not a one-time use deity. He does not perform one miracle and then retire. He does not bless once and then close the windows of heaven. The God who made a way before still makes ways now. The God who brought you through yesterday has not lost His strength today. If He healed before, He can heal again. If He opened doors before, He can open greater ones. If He restored what was broken before, He can restore. Sometimes life convinces us that our best days are behind us. We face setbacks, disappointments, financial strain, health challenges, and unexpected losses. It can feel like the miracle was a one-time moment that will never repeat itself. But God’s power does not depend on our feelings. Our doubts do not limit his ability. He is not seasonal. He is not occasional. He is consistent.
The same God who lifted you before can lift you again. The same God who sustained your family before can sustain you now. The same God who answered prayers you thought would never be answered can move in ways you cannot yet see. He does not run out of grace. He does not misplace your name. He does not forget His promises. So when life whispers that it was just luck, remind yourself that it was the Lord. When fear says it cannot happen again, let faith declare that it can. What he did once, He can do again. And if He did it before, you can trust Him to do it once more.
