Yancy Sue Willingham Dunn
July 17, 1937 – June 11, 2026
88 Years of age
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Yancy Sue Dunn, who went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2026. Graveside services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Yancy was born on July 17, 1937, to Jasper and Susie Willingham and was raised in Greenville, MS. She attended Saint Joseph High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and memories she carried throughout her life.
She passed peacefully in her childhood home, surrounded by her four children, a reflection of the life she lived, rooted in faith, family, and love.
Yancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Edwin Dunn, Sr.
A faithful member of First Baptist Church in Greenville, Yancy lived a life marked by quiet strength, kindness, acceptance, and generosity. She was genuine and selfless, always putting others before herself and making people feel welcomed and loved.
For decades, she worked at Farmers Inc, where she built lasting friendships and exemplified dedication and service.
Yancy found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved tending her flowers and garden, feeding her birds and squirrels, spending time with neighbors, and participating in neighborhood activities. Her home reflected who she was, warm, welcoming, and full of life.
Above all, Yancy loved her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who rarely missed a chance to support and celebrate the people she loved. Whether attending ballgames, gathering for family events, or simply being present, she showed her love through her steadfast support and care.
She is survived by her children: Jimmy Dunn (Rita), Teri Dunn (Tammy Ishee), Cindy Buford (Garry), and Dottie Ashmore (Ronnie Sr.). She is also survived by her grandchildren and their families: Davin, Trent, and Abby Ishee-Dunn; Kevin Buford (Kelsey) and their children Leiah, Lundy, and one precious child on the way; Brian Buford (Samantha) and their children Hayden, Ellie, and Grayson; Nikki Stevens (Larry) and their children Hayden and Tripp; and Ronnie Ashmore Jr. (Lauren) and their children Brayden and Sawyer.
Yancy’s legacy lives on through the faith she shared, the love she gave so freely, and the example she set for her family. Though she will be deeply missed, her kindness and devotion will continue to guide those who knew and loved her.
