City departments hard at work
The City of Leland is approaching three full months without any official leadership in the Police Department. On May 14 of this year, the Leland Police Chief was terminated without the Board of Aldermen providing any replacement, but, just because there is no interim does not mean they are not hard at work.
On several separate occasions, the Leland Police Department has set up road blocks in several parts of the city, making sure that residents know the town has police presence.
Another City department that residents may have recently seen hard at work is the Water Department. Those riding through town in the middle of the day are likely to see several people out watering different plants around the city.
It takes a lot to get out there in this Delta heat and perform different tasks, and the Leland community is grateful to have people who work hard to keep the city safe and beautiful.
