Dr. Kurtz wins 100th first place trophy

Dr. Mark Kurtz, retired Weed Scientist with Mississippi State University and 44-year resident of Leland, recently won his 100th first place trophy shooting at Howard Prince Memorial Range in Pioneer, Louisiana.
Dr. Kurtz has been competing at Prince Range since 2015. Matches are held monthly at 300 and 600 yards with centerfire rifles and 100 yards

with .22 rimfire rifles. Typically, ten to twenty men, women and even children compete to win trophies in custom, factory and tactical classes.
The bullseye at 600 yards is 3 inches, 1.5 inches at 300 yards and 1 inch at 100 yards.
After winning his 100th trophy, Dr. Kurtz removed the brass placards from all 100 plaques and placed them on the 36×57 inch trophy board which hangs in his man cave. He has won several Mississippi IHMSA State Championships and set the 15-shot 500-yard String National Record by shooting 150-14x.
