Highway 61 Blues Festival celebrates 23 years

Leland hosted its 23rd annual Highway 61 Blues Festival last month. The line-up included Pat Thomas, Jay Kirgis, Jimmy “Duck” Holmes, Delta String Band, Libby Rae Watson and the John Horton Band. Admission was a donation of two canned goods,which were given to the Leland Food Pantry. Per Tony Walker, there was “good music, a good crowd and good weather.” Festival organizers encourage area residents to mark their calendars for next year’s festival, which will be held on October 4, 2025, in Leland’s historic downtown.
