Library opens registration for Summer Reading Program

summer reading programThe Washington County Library System has kicked off registration for its 2026 Summer Reading Program. Library officials say children’s participation in a summer reading program can help prevent “summer slide” and keep their brains engaged in learning.

The Leland library, along with the other libraries in the system, will have events and activities planned throughout June and July around an “Unearth a Story” theme.

Leland’s library will have Thursday activities that include live animals, magic shows, music, games, crafts and reading events. The program will include prizes and free books.

Parents and guardians can register children beginning May 26.

The Leland library is located at 107 North Broad Street. For more information, call 662-686-7353. The library is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The library is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
