MDCC Adult Education Students Celebrate High School Equivalency Graduation

adult ed grad classMississippi Delta Community College celebrated the achievements of its Adult Education students during a graduation ceremony Thursday, June 18, in the J.T. Hall Coliseum.

Twenty-seven adult education students earned their high school equivalency diplomas by successfully completing either the GED or HiSET exams. Twenty-two graduates participated in the commencement ceremony, marking a significant milestone in their educational journeys.

The ceremony opened with a welcome from Director of Adult Education Kimberly Youngman, followed by an invocation from Baptist Student Union Director Josh Warren.

Dean of Career-Technical and Adult Education Allison Brady congratulated the graduates during her opening remarks, commending their perseverance and commitment to achieving their educational goals.

Brandi Ratliff of the Office of Adult Education at the Mississippi Community College Board also offered congratulations and words of encouragement to the graduates.

Adult Education Instructor Alvin Webb introduced student speaker Latorshay Russell, who reflected on her educational journey and encouraged her fellow graduates to continue pursuing their goals despite life’s challenges.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of diplomas by College and Career Navigator Karen Bright and members of the MDCC Adult Education instructional staff.

MDCC’s Adult Education program provides opportunities for adult learners to earn a high school equivalency diploma while preparing for college, careers and lifelong success. The graduation ceremony recognized the determination and accomplishments of students who overcame obstacles to reach this important milestone.
