Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) has named Joseph Jackson as its director of marketing and digital strategy. Jackson will begin his role July 1 as part of the creation of the Department of Strategic Communications, which brings together the Office of Public Relations and the Office of Marketing and Digital Strategy.
The newly created position reflects the college’s expanded focus on strategic communications, marketing, branding and enrollment-focused storytelling. As director of marketing and digital strategy, Jackson will oversee the college’s marketing, branding, digital communications and content strategy initiatives, lead the college’s overall content strategy and serve as MDCC’s sports information director. In these roles, he will lead efforts to enhance institutional visibility, strengthen stakeholder engagement and support enrollment growth while promoting the achievements of the college’s academic programs, students and athletics.
“We are excited to welcome Joseph Jackson to the Division of Enrollment Management at Mississippi Delta Community College,” said Dr. Kylon Alford-Windfield, vice president of enrollment management. “As a native of the Mississippi Delta, Joseph brings both exceptional talent and a deep understanding of the communities we serve. In today’s competitive enrollment environment, success requires telling the story of the entire student experience. Joseph’s expertise in digital storytelling, brand strategy and creative communications will help us showcase the opportunities available at MDCC, from academic excellence and student engagement to athletics and campus life. His ability to connect authentic stories with enrollment goals will strengthen our brand, expand our reach and support our continued growth across the Delta and beyond.”
Jackson, a native of Belzoni, earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Mississippi Valley State University and has built his career helping colleges and universities connect with students, families, alumni and communities through innovative communications strategies.
Throughout his career, he has developed expertise in multimedia production, photography, videography, social media strategy, brand development and enrollment-focused marketing. He began his career as a freelance communications professional supporting higher education institutions before advancing into leadership positions in university marketing and communications.
Most recently, Jackson served as digital media specialist in the Department of Strategic Enrollment Communications at Jackson State University. In that role, he developed and executed multimedia campaigns that supported student recruitment, engagement and institutional visibility. Through creative storytelling and strategic content, he highlighted student achievements, promoted academic programs and strengthened the university’s brand across digital platforms.
As director of marketing and digital strategy, Jackson will play a key role within the Department of Strategic Communications by leading marketing efforts, overseeing the college’s digital presence, directing athletic communications and storytelling as sports information director, and promoting the accomplishments of students, faculty, staff and alumni across all MDCC campuses.
“I am honored to join Mississippi Delta Community College and return to serve a region that has played such an important role in my life,” Jackson said. “As a native of Belzoni, I understand the impact higher education can have on individuals, families and communities. I look forward to helping tell the stories of our students, faculty and alumni while supporting the college’s mission of transforming lives through education.”
