Mississippi Delta Community College Welcomes Kalann Haymon as Head Women’s Residence Hall Director

Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Kalann Haymon as head women’s residence hall director in the Office of Student Services. A proud alumna of MDCC with strong roots in the Mississippi Delta, Haymon returns to her alma mater with a passion for serving students and fostering a welcoming campus community.

Haymon began her academic journey at MDCC, where she earned an associate’s degree in communication. During her time as a student, she was actively engaged in campus life, earning induction into the Hall of Fame, serving as vice president of the Student Government Association, and representing the college as Miss MDCC. On graduation day, she received a challenge from former MDCC President Tyrone Jackson to “come back and bring them back”—a message that has since inspired her to return and invest in the next generation of students.

After graduating from MDCC, Haymon continued her studies at Mississippi State University (MSU), earning a bachelor’s degree in communication with a concentration in broadcasting and digital journalism. While at MSU, she further developed her leadership skills by serving as a resident assistant and participating in C.O.R.E., a program that empowered students to plan events and build community within the residence halls.

Throughout her educational journey, mentors like MDCC instructor Nicole Andrews played a pivotal role in shaping Haymon’s path. “Now, I want to give back to the place that gave so much to me,” Haymon said. “My passion has always been people—encouraging, supporting, and being a light to those around me. Just as mentors poured into me, I hope to pour into students, so they leave here knowing they are seen, valued, and capable of making an impact far beyond these walls.”

In her new role at MDCC, Haymon is committed to creating a supportive residential environment where students feel cared for, valued, and inspired to grow into the best version of themselves.
