Schweitzer Named College Sports Communicators Academic All-American

Delta State University Football Student Athlete Gabe Schweitzer was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Team Announced last week.

Schweitzer is the first Statesmen football player to earn CSC Academic All-American honors since 1982 when wide receiver Jerry Turner earned second team Academic All-American honors.

The Calera, Ala., native earned first team Academic All-American honors after completing his master’s degree in Sport and Human Performance with a 4.00 GPA.

Schweitzer was a force on the offensive line in the 2025 season. The Calera, Ala., native started in all 10 games as the left tackle for the green and white where he had a big impact on the offensive side of the ball helping an offense that totaled an average 411.4 yards per game. Schweitzer also earned Gulf South Conference All-Academic honors and was a first team All-GSC.
