41st Annual Pig Pickin’ Set for Sept. 5 at Delta State University

CLEVELAND, MISS (08/18/2026) The Delta State University Alumni Association is proud to announce the 41st annual Pig Pickin’ on Sept. 5, bringing alumni, students, families, barbecue enthusiasts and Delta State supporters together for a day of food, activities and a celebration of the traditions that make Delta State so special.
The annual celebration will feature an MBN-sanctioned barbecue competition, live entertainment, a Mini Cheer Camp, Pig Pickin’ Pilates and tailgating activities. The celebration will conclude with Delta State University’s first home football game of the season vs Wingate University.
“Pig Pickin’ is one of those Delta State traditions that brings everyone back together,” said Corley Mullins ’06, ’10, ’23, director of alumni affairs. “For more than 40 years, generations of Statesmen have made memories at Pig Pickin’, and we’re excited to welcome alumni, families and friends back to campus again this year. We have a great weekend planned, with something for everyone.”
The Delta State Alumni Association tent will offer a variety of DSU merchandise and swag, as well as BBQ plates for purchase. Attendees also can purchase the annual Pig Pickin’ T-shirt, a longtime fan favorite.
Ana Parker Arbuckle, alumni engagement coordinator, said the event provides an opportunity for the Delta State community to celebrate the university’s traditions while creating new memories.
“Pig Pickin’ is more than a tradition; it’s an opportunity to bring the Delta State family together,” Arbuckle said. “From great barbecue and entertainment to family-friendly activities and Statesmen football, it will be a day to reconnect, make memories and celebrate what makes Delta State special.”
Pig Pickin’ has become a longstanding Delta State tradition, bringing alumni and friends back to campus each fall for a celebration centered around barbecue, fellowship and Statesmen athletics.
