Community Counseling Center hosts “Louisiana Lunch”
The Community Counseling Center of Greenville, Cleveland and Indianola recently hosted their annual “Louisiana Lunch” fundraiser. The $20 lunch featured red beans and rice, salad, bread and dessert, with proceeds benefiting the Community Counseling Center.
The take-out meal was prepared by the Community Counseling board of directors, with chefs Brent and Jeanie Johnson and Butch Ashmore sharing their culinary talents.
“The Louisiana Lunch fundraiser is an essential piece of the Community Counseling Center for not only the fundraising aspect but the fellowship and wonderful meal that is prepared and served,” said Board President Kendall Cox. “Our talented and gracious chefs, Brent, Jeanie and Butch, spend days in the kitchen with the goal of caring for our neighbors through the work that Community Counseling does in our community. We cannot thank them enough for their servant hearts. Also, thanks is extended to Amy Virden and Vito’s for her annual donation and packaging of the delicious Vito’s salad dressing – a true Delta delicacy – and Stop & Shop for their generous donation of supplies for our meal. This is a great example of people showing up for those in need, and they put “community” in Community Counseling.”
The Community Counseling Center, a United Way of Washington County agency, has been helping people lead healthier lives for over thirty-eight years.
“In 2024, the Community Counseling Center’s Master’s level counselors had the privilege of serving clients, ranging in ages from six to ninety-six years old. We provide services in Greenville and Cleveland, which allows clients to be seen by our team in three counties,” said Executive Director Cindi Lofton. “Treatment provided by our six therapists includes marriage and family therapy, grief work, relapse prevention, work-related stress management, as well as depression and other life issues.”
“Every year, our board of directors is thrilled and grateful for the support received for the Louisiana Lunch fundraiser,” said Louisiana Lunch Chairwoman Sharon Ashmore.
“The money raised is essential to our mission, but the awareness of the work done by our counselors is put into the forefront, which is important to getting the word out to the people who need our services.”
