Delta Compass awards $50,000 grant to expand lineman training program

line poleDelta Compass has awarded a $50,000 grant to the South Delta Planning and Development District (SDPDD) to expand its Electric Lineman Training Program. The funding will support workforce development in the growing energy sector, providing Delta residents with the technical skills and certifications needed for high-wage careers in electric utilities. This comes as the region’s infrastructure, including a new power plant, is set to expand, creating more demand for skilled workers.

“This program is about more than just jobs—it’s about strengthening the systems that power our communities,” said Justin Archer Burch, president and CEO of Delta Compass.

The grant will fund new equipment, instructional materials, and stipends, with the goal of increasing enrollment and graduation rates. Delta Compass aims to build a more inclusive energy workforce in the region, preparing it for the challenges and opportunities of a modern economy.
