Forward Together: MDCC Establishes Permanent Greenwood Center
Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) is proud to announce the purchase of a new permanent home for its Greenwood Center, securing a long-term presence in Leflore County and reaffirming its commitment to the Delta.
Situated in the former Malouf Furniture and Interiors building on U.S. 82, the new 44,000-square-foot Greenwood Center will allow MDCC to establish a lasting presence in the community and broaden its educational reach. MDCC will move into the facility by July 2026, aligning with the transition out of its current location.
“This is a great day for our college as we continue to reimagine what MDCC can be and chart our path Forward Together,” said MDCC President Dr. Steven Jones. “This new center represents more than just a building—it signifies our commitment to Leflore County and the City of Greenwood. The opportunities it will create for education, workforce development, and community engagement are substantial, and it positions MDCC to expand and grow our presence in the region in meaningful ways.”

As a central location for both education and workforce development, the Greenwood Center will broaden opportunities for students and provide employers with a stronger pipeline of skilled graduates. Expanded offerings are planned, including Middle College, health science and career-technical programs and advance training programs, which will help meet the region’s growing needs.
“We are thrilled about the bright future of our new MDCC Greenwood location,” said Vice President of Instruction and Accreditation/Provost Dr. Valarie Morgan. “This expansion will allow us to broaden our academic, career-technical, and health science offerings, creating new opportunities for students and the workforce. Leflore County has always been a fierce supporter of MDCC, and we are excited to deepen our presence in a community that has stood beside us for so many years.”
The facility consists of four attached buildings totaling approximately 44,307 square feet. The main building includes nearly 30,000 square feet of showroom and office space, while three adjoining warehouse structures add an additional 14,310 square feet, including offices and loading facilities. The property also features a large, paved parking area, a fenced loading zone, and prominent signage.
Dr. Jones credited the Greenwood Center Task Force for its instrumental role in bringing this project to fruition. “Your dedication and guidance have helped us reach this milestone,” he said.
With this new permanent home, MDCC is solidifying its role as a partner in Greenwood’s future—preparing students for success, supporting local industry needs, and strengthening the region through education.
