Jerry Thomas gets new wheels
Jerry Thomas received quite the surprise last month. The Leland community came together to gift him with his very own set of wheels – a golf cart to help him get around town and to his multiple jobs at the Leland School District, Leland Town and Racquet Club and Cicero’s Restaurant.
Thomas is active in the community, always cleaning and tending to areas that he sees needing attention. He is considered to be a vital member of the community.
Jennifer Phillips spearheaded the surprise for Jerry, and the town responded, with many people coming together and donating money, time and more.
“Name a better place than the Delta. I’ll wait,” said Phillips. “There is no better community in the world.”
A surprise unveiling happened on February 6, at the greenspace across from Vito’s. Ryan Moore helped with Jerry’s arrival. Many from the community showed up to show their appreciation, and it was said that Jerry’s smile could be seen from miles away.
