LOOKING UP: Delta Center Stage presents Silent Sky

play title billAs spring settles across the Delta, Delta Center Stage is turning its focus upward.

From April 30 through May 3, the community theater will present Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson, directed by Kendall Cox.

The play tells the story of astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, whose work measuring the brightness of stars helped reveal the scale of the universe—though her contributions were largely unrecognized in her lifetime.

Set in the early 1900s at the Harvard Observatory, Silent Sky follows a group of women doing meticulous, often invisible work—cataloging stars, making calculations, and quietly changing what is known about the cosmos.

It is a story about discovery, but also about something closer to home: The kind of work that matters even when no one is watching. In a region where so much essential work happens just out of view, the story resonates.
