New Chicot Insights Consulting to be headed by Dr. Jason Krutz

Dr. Jason Krutz
Chicot Irrigation recently announced the formation of Chicot Insights, a consulting entity focused on water management and environmental sustainability. Dr. Jason Krutz has been hired as vice president of research and sustainable development to head this new endeavor.
Company officials say that Krutz comes to Chicot Insights with outstanding experience. He has been the director of the Mississippi Water Resources Research Institute at Mississippi State University and a Research and Extension Professor with the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the university. He serves as the executive director of the Mississippi Soybean Promotion Board. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Arkansas and a doctorate degree from Texas A&M University in agronomy.
“I’ve been working with Jason for the past ten years,” shares Chicot Irrigation President Cory Rowe. “He and I share a concern that the aquifer in the Delta remain viable. It’s vital to our region’s economy. Jason’s entire career has been focused on improving farming in the Delta through water management. I couldn’t be happier to have him join the Chicot Irrigation team.”
Under the Chicot Insights brand, Krutz will consult with farmers on the best ways to be more effective in the use of water on their land.
“By coupling sound agronomics with state-of-the-art precision agricultural technologies, we can improve crop productivity, producer profitability and aquifer sustainability,” says Krutz.
For corn and soybean crops, the right technology can reduce water use by 28 to 48 percent.
Krutz’s time will also be spent seeking financial support for producers and meeting with the Delta’s congressional leaders to inform them of the need for advanced water management technologies.
Chicot Insights has its own technologies in development, which the company says it plans to introduce in the future.
Krutz says he is eager to share his expertise with farmers to secure their futures – and ultimately the futures of those who depend on them.
“I’ve spent twenty years developing tools and technologies to increase yields and have a positive impact on the environment,” states Krutz. “I’m now excited to enter the private sector and move those technologies forward!”
