Billy J. Hutchinson
August 1, 2026
On August 1, 2026, Billy J. Hutchinson passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, and entered his heavenly home.
Billy grew up in Leland, Mississippi, where he and Susan later raised their daughters. A devoted servant to his community and church, Billy dedicated many years of service to Mississippi State University agricultural research, served as a volunteer firefighter, and a member of the Leland Lion’s Club. Above all, Billy was a man of deep faith, serving as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Leland for many years.
After relocating to North Carolina with his wife in 2011, he remained active in his faith and hobbies. He was a member of the SWAMPS Flying Club, taught the Hallelujah Class at Piney Grove Baptist Church, and participated in the Encouragers Bible Study. In his free time, Billy loved spending time with family (especially trips to Bald Head Island, Orange Beach, and The Cove) and had a passion for working on tractors, cars, and model airplanes. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his daughter Angie Holly (Jeff), his daughter Suzanne Parker (Todd), and his grandchildren. His legacy of love, kindness, faithfulness, and dedication will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 with Rev. Jon Doler officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
