Seven Lady Statesmen Swimmers Earn All-American Honors at the NCAA National Championships

The Delta State University Women’s Swimming and Diving Team had seven swimmers earn 17 All-American honors at the NCAA National Championship swim meet this week in Indianapolis. The Lady Statesmen placed 21st as a team with 48 points.

Those seven swimmers are highlighted by junior Mikayla Kloth. The Ames, Iowa native earned first team All-American honors in the 100-yard butterfly as she finished in eighth with a time of 55.36 seconds.

Along with Kloth were three relay teams that earned All-American honors placing in the top 16 spots throughout the meet.

Wednesday evening consisted of the first group of Lady Statesmen to earn All-American honors as the relay team of Kaley Davis, Pia Delkeskamp, Zinna Nimander, and Ave Owens finished 12th in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:41.91.

In the Thursday session, Kloth started the evening off with a 55.36 second finish in the 100-yard butterfly earning first team All-American honors with an eighth-place finish in the Championship final.

Finishing the Thursday evening session was the 400-yard Medley relay team of Nimander, Janne Bodemer, Kloth, and Owens earned second team All-American honors with their 16th place finish with a time of 3:50.67.

In the Friday evening session, the Lady Statesmen Relay Teams continued to shine, as the team of Nimander, Davis, Olivia Murphy, and Owens earned second team All-American honors finishing 13th in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.70.

Saturday the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Kloth, Owens, Nimander, and Murphy placed 14th, earning second team All-American honors and totaling the team score at 48 in the meet. The team finished with a time of 3:24.08.
