The Leland Enterprise 1924: excerpt from the editor about the hometown newspaper

The Leland Enterprise, October 1924—Not a big city daily with shrieking headlines of murder, mush, and scandal—just a reasonable, conservative little sheet that tries to give you what you want in news of your town and your friends and something of what the world is doing.  That’s your hometown paper.  When there’s a boost to be given for the old hometown, a friendly tap on the back of a deserving citizen, with courage to fight whenever the old hometown needs its help, clarion of our merits, defending when others run it down, the hometown newspaper is there.  Your hometown paper may not be all that you expect of it, but it’s yours.  Support your hometown paper because it is supporting you to make the old hometown the finest place in the entire world to live.
