Mississippi Delta Community College is proud to announce that three outstanding students have been named to the 2025 All-Mississippi Academic Team, a prestigious recognition program organized by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the American Association of Community Colleges, the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges, and the Mississippi Community College Board.

Malorie Thurman, a Greenville native and student on MDCC’s Greenville campus, was named to the All-Mississippi First Team—a distinction awarded to the top-scoring nominee from each of Mississippi’s 15 community colleges. Malorie is majoring in pre-dentistry and currently serves as Vice President of Service and Leadership for the Beta Rho Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, as well as a member of the Student Government Association. After graduating from MDCC, she plans to enter the National Guard, transfer to Mississippi State University, and eventually complete dental school. Her commitment to both academic excellence and service leadership makes her a standout among her peers.

Emma Threet, also from Greenville and a student on the Greenville campus, was named to the All-Mississippi Second Team. Emma is majoring in pre-allied health and serves as President of the Beta Rho Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. After MDCC, she plans to attend Delta State University and enter the sports medicine program, ultimately working as an athletic trainer. Emma’s leadership and passion for helping others reflect her dedication to both education and her future career.

Clamaurion Jenkins, a pre-engineering major from Baird, represents MDCC’s Moorhead campus and was also named to the All-Mississippi Second Team. He serves as Treasurer of the Zeta Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and has distinguished himself as a thoughtful leader with a drive for innovation. After graduating from MDCC, Clamaurion plans to attend Mississippi State University and major in computer science. His career goals include working as a software developer, network administrator, or in a similar technology-driven field.

Since its inception in 1994, the All-Mississippi Academic Team program has recognized exceptional students from Mississippi’s community and junior colleges. Students are selected based on academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement. Each college president may nominate two transfer-bound and two workforce-bound students per campus. The application process includes faculty and community recommendations, essays, leadership records, and transcripts.

This recognition program is part of the national All-USA Academic Team, which receives more than 2,400 nominations each year. Cengage, Phi Theta Kappa, and the American Association of Community Colleges sponsor the initiative. Students named to the All-Mississippi Academic Team receive medallions, certificates, and resolutions from the Mississippi Legislature. Many four-year institutions also provide scholarships specifically for team members.

MDCC congratulates Malorie, Emma, and Clamaurion on this incredible achievement and wishes them continued success in their academic and professional journeys.
