Venuti selected as head page for House of Representatives

Jacob R. Venuti, a recent graduate from Saint Joseph Catholic School in Greenville, current undergraduate student at The University of Missis-sippi, and a lifelong resident of Leland, has been selected to work as the Head Page for the Mississippi State House of Representatives from January until May as part of an internship through his major at Ole Miss. With a passionate interest in government and politics, Venuti’s major is political science; and, after his undergraduate degree is completed, he wishes to seek a law degree at the university.
Those who know him say Venuti can be found either volunteering in his community, working the polls or doing something to keep him busy. As Head Page, Venuti will oversee the pages hired throughout the year that come in to assist with any work for State leaders. Ole Miss is awarding him six credit hours towards his major, and he will also complete three additional classes online to stay on track for graduation.
Venuti said what really motivated him to seek further leadership roles after high school was “having the privilege of serving” on Saint Joseph’s Student Government Association, in which he served in many capacities, from representative to treasurer, as well as his previous office, which was President of the SGA. Venuti says he wants everyone to know that he is very grateful for the people who have helped him along the way. He says his parents, family, friends and girlfriend play major roles in his life.
Venuti also wants to make sure to mention his gratitude to Saint Joseph Catholic School, for “fostering an environment that was fun yet challenging, but also uplifting enough to understand that stars are not the limit to which you can reach; because God will take you anywhere He wants you to go, and it is up to us to pick up our cross and follow Him.”
Venuti says it is his goal to make sure everyone understands that, “even if you come from a small town like Leland, you can do big things.”
