Washington County OEM confirms multiple arrests in Leland shooting investigation; FBI updates suspect poster
The Washington County Office of Emergency Management confirmed Monday evening that multiple arrests have been made in connection with the Oct. 11 mass shooting in Leland that claimed six lives and left several others injured.
In a joint statement, county officials thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Leland Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for their coordination in identifying and apprehending suspects.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” the release stated. “We continue to ask anyone with information, photos, or videos from that night to share them with law enforcement.”
The agency also expressed gratitude to the community for its cooperation and extended condolences to the victims and their families.
“We stand with the Leland community during this incredibly difficult time,” officials said.
The FBI also released a second suspect poster Monday afternoon as the investigation continues.
